Since 2008, Arvest in Greater Kansas City has been actively involved with Partners in Education through Summit Lakes Middle School and will be recognizing four students for the “Be the Change Award” at the awards show on May 22.

The “Be the Change” awards originated in 2015 and the students who receive this award were nominated by a peer student, teacher or a parent. The nomination describes the student going above and beyond to help another person and “to be the change” they want to see in the world. The winners receive a t-shirt, certificate and recognition at a school assembly.

Associate Brenda Madaris has personally been involved with Partners in Education since 2012. She also volunteers her time mentoring and helping the students with their homework. Earlier this year, she presented the award to two students at the winter assembly.

“It was very exciting to award the students and let them know what a difference they have made," Brenda Madaris said. "It’s a great way for Arvest to be involved in the community."
